Mount Last -- Crystal Mountain Ski Resort

About Crystal Mountain

The ski area is located at the base of Mount Last and was originally developed by a local family as a small ski hill for the people of Westbank. The ski resort at Crystal Mountain was opened on December 9, 1967 by Pat and Allan McLeod. It was then called Last Mountain Ski Resort.

At the 30th anniversary of the resort, in 1997, there was considerable excitement and discussions started regarding the development of the resort with a year-round expansion, based on its location as the closest hill to Kelowna and as the closest Okanagan ski resort to Vancouver.

In 1992 the ski area was sold to Crystal Mountain Resorts Ltd. The ski area name was changed to Crystal Mountain to remind people of the snow -- something bright and fun.

Since the beginning, the resort offered both day skiing and night skiing to allow for evening fun and training to families interested in beginner and intermediate skiing.

Big White Resort

Big White Resort in British Columbia boasts a longer than average ski season running from mid-November to mid-April. This is due to the 750 cm (300 inches) of snow received annually. In the 2001-02 season, Big White was the first Northern Hemisphere resort to open with all natural snow on October 20th 2001.

Come ski Big White! With four high-speed quads and nine lifts, skiers and snowboarders can explore a wide range of terrain, including phenomenal powder bowls, glades and marked trails.

Big White also has three state of the art snowboard parks and half-pipes built to competition standards. There are also 25 km(15.5 miles) of cross-country trails. The Bullet high-speed quad and Plaza quad chairs access night skiing and riding five nights a week. 38 acres are illuminated for night skiing and riding. The agricultural production of the adjacent areas of Sushwaup Lake is high.
